Everyone submit their rankings (according to prestige)

Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, and Lazard

Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley

blackstone=Private equity

Prestige:

Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, Credit Suisse First Boston, Lazard, Greenhill, Lehman Brothers, Citigroup, UBS, Deutsche Banc, Bank of American securities, Wachovia securities, Jeffrie's, Evercore, Gleacher's......

Which group/desks? Thats more important than just simply naming off banks.

Blackstone has a corporate advisory (banking) group as well.

vault's top 50 is pretty good...just look at that.

Also look of the league tables to see which bank is the best in each market.

Can anyone give some insight onto the investment banking divisions at UBS, Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse and Citigroup (Smith Barney)? Thank you.

CS is kinda prestigious, I guess.

Bear Stearns, UBS and Citigroup seem to be at the same level.

Anyone know where I might be able to find information (links, books, etc.) about what the day of an investment banker is like and the type of work that is expected?

Some good programs (based on my experience, take with a grain of salt):

Blackstone: LBO/Real Estate (this isn't I-banking, and if you want one of these jobs, well then good luck lol..)
Goldman Sachs: M&A/Equity Underwriting (probably the most prestigious for this)
Morgan Stanley: M&A/Equity Underwriting
Citigroup: Fixed Income Capital Markets Quantitative Research (probably the most prestigious FX quant program)
UBS: Equity Capital Markets Research (probably the most prestigious Equity quant program)
Lehman: M&A/Equity Underwriting, high yield (pretty good all around)
Merrill Lynch: similar to Lehman, pretty good all around
Deutsche Bank: solid all around, I dunno really
Credit Suisse: Among the leaders in M&A and Fixed Income
JPMorgan: Good all around
