Top Math/Science Undergrad Programs besides MIT??

Besides MIT, what colleges in the Northeastern area have top notch math science programs...i'm interested in something like electrical engineering...

Princeton, Harvard

Carnegie Mellon and Cornell are two great choices for engineering, as is RPI if you're looking for more of a safety.

Williams, Harvey Mudd

Check out Union in NY.

Maybe Rochester Institute of Technology?

Olin in MA. Columbia.

I tend to differentiate between strong math/science schools and strong engineering schools; you may get different, more appropriate recs if your subject gets changed to "Top Engineering Undergrad Programs".

Why does it have to be in the Northeast?

It's probably a personal preference.

Math/science programs should be distinguished from engineering programs.

olin....free tuition!! : )

northeastern university, can't beat beantown :)

In order:

MIT, Cornell/Princeton, Harvard, Rutgers, Columbia, Penn, RPI, Rochester, WPI, SUNY-Stony Brook/SUNY-Buffalo, Clarkson, RIT,

for math and hard sciences
Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Williams, Dartmouth, Amherst, Brown, Columbia, Swarthmore, Cornell, Upenn, Cooper Union.

For electrical engineering
MIT, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Princeton, Columbia, Penn State, Johns Hopkins, Cooper Union, Bucknell

If your into research and hope to do graduate stuff, Wesleyan would be a good school. It beats Williams, Amherst, and Swarthmore as the top LAC for federally funded research and publishing, and is consistently ranked in the top 10 for students who go on to do graduate study in the sciences.

stupidme's list is pretty good. if you want some safeties throw in Lehigh, URochester, and Boston U.

thanks alot : )
