Top public LAC's?

I keep seeing that William and Mary was ranked the number one public LAC in the country by US News, but I can't find the rest of the list anywhere. Anyone have it by chance?

William and Mary is not a LAC, despite its small size. It's ranked among national (research) universities according to USNews. among publics it is ranked 6th, and 33rd overall.

Other publics with LAC environment: New College, FL; Geneseo, NY; Purchase, NY; New Paltz, NY; St. Mary's College of MD, MD; The College of NJ, NJ; and other I don't know about.

For a list of public LACs see: http://www.coplac.org/members.htm

UNC Asheville says that it is ranked third among public LACs, but imo this public LAC categorization is pretty useless. there are less than a few dozen of them across the country, being the "best" is certainly not difficult.

Other than New College, Evergreen State, and St Mary's there's not much impressive on that list. Come on, Ft Lewis in Durango is a third tier Colorado college let alone one of nat'l recognition...

W&M is definitely a LAC. A large one, but one nonetheless. US News categorizes them as a National U but they, along with Tufts, Rice, Wake Forest, Dartmouth, Brown are in that in between zone. Bigger than Amherst, way smaller than Michigan/UCLA etc... In fact, some college guides list peer schools as Davidson and Haverford. (Students Guide I think)

W&M is the primary public LAC in the country. There isnt anyone else on the list at their level. New College in Fl would be the closest.

SUNY Geneseo and Ramapo are also very good schools. The College of New Jersey is probably the best public LAC.
