Recommendations: AMAZING, especially from my GC.
Race:Asian
Income: 100k

You should be able to get into Johns Hopkins.
The Ivies are crapshoots though. So they are reaches for everyone. However, you brilliant GPA and SAT makes you a strong applicant. Your chances of getting in are as good as anyone else’s.

Chance me

At first glance, it may appear that you have good EC’s, but I know for a fact that most of those are sitting groups and filler that looks good. I don’t see one EC that you have dedicated yourself too, so it looks empty–like the kids who join 15 clubs so they can write them down as ECs. Given that, I would say that your ECs are nothing special.

Your shadowing programs look interesting, but you provide no details. Did you do it for a couple weeks, or all year? That matters.

You have provided no AP scores so I must assume that they are poor. Your SAT score is not great, but the rest of your academics is fine.

You could probably get into John Hopkins or the lower Ivies like Cornell. You won’t get into Harvard, Stanford, Yale, etc.

Johns Hopkins is a match. Cornell is also likely a high match. Other ivies are reaches.

Thanks Midas, sorry for trolling your post. Can I ask why you think my ECs are bad? Did I fail to mention I switched schools senior year? Also, keep in mind I took 4 AP classes one year and I’m taking 7+Dual enrollment this year, so I am very busy. Also I indicate that I will do pepband in college and that I will do wrestling too.

one thing that jumps out me is that your SAT score, which is by no means bad, but isn’t nearly on par with the A-team stuff. maybe it’s just my school, but our a-teamers are mainly people with near perfect scores.

Ok, you do realize SATs do not measure intelligence. My previous SAT was a 1900. I don’t think within a few months I just got 200 points smarter. Also, A-Team is just random knowledge. There was one kid on our A-Team with a perfect score and I was a chair above him.

As for anyone, Ivies are reach schools. But you have a decent shot at all of the schools. However, your SAT seems bit low. Remember, you’re also competing against other super smart Asians with high SAT and GPA. Your EC’s seem pretty good, so make sure you have an awesome essay!

galaxialto, just trying to give some insight. they definitely don’t measure intelligence, and I never suggested that. it was a trend I noticed at my school and I thought I’d voice (or type) it.

John Hopkins and Cornell are matches.

For the rest of the Ivies, I don’t see a good leadership EC that could help you get in. You’re a great musician, you dedicate a lot of time to community service, but where have you truly led a club or organized a blood drive, etc.? That aspect of your app is lacking.

Chance me! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1419074-chance-me-ill-chance-back-asap.html

CatsareCats, I should have mentioned how I was science team captain for 3 years. I also was nominated for NHS district president by mah peers.

it’s fine, I was just defending myself lol

You have very good stats, your SAT score is kind of low for HYP, especially for an asian applicant, but i think you have good chances at those schools, you are very well-rounded and standardized tests are not everything(you’re right they don’t measure intelligence). You are probably going to get into Hopkins. Good luck.
Chance me back please:
