Tough Courseload Decision

Yes! If any of you have read any of my older posts, you know that I have had a courseload problem. I have only 1 honors class out of the possible 5. Plus, no one ever gets moved up. But I am reccommended for English 10 Honors, next year. It makes my courseload seem no more different: 2 honors classes out of the possible 5, but I did break an iron curtain that a lot of kids don't break at my school.

But here's the problem:

Since the first day of school to 8th Grade, I was okay at English. I wasn't honors level type. I only became good at English when I was in 9th Grade, because Regents is soooooooo easy and I had a repeat teacher. Struggling with reading comprehension, ability to write and think fast, and going to Honors English?????

My courseload for me is already hard for me. I already gave up thinking about any school other than state school, because there is no way I can survive anywhere else, if I think that 1 honors class is hard.

I haven't even worked on stuff that I like anymore. I have horrible time mangement skills.

So I'm thinking. A 96.2/100 weighted average with all A's or better, if I keep this courseload or take the honors class and shrink (possibly a lot, because all the other students in honors english have had a huge grade drop).

bump…

bump…

Esmee,

only you can decide what is right for you.

Why don’t you challenge yourself with both honors courses, and prove to yourself that you can do it! it would do wonders for your self esteem.

you have a lot of time between now and taking 2 honors courses next fall…so why don’t you work at improving both your time management skills and your study skills and techniques. Go to the library and get some books (the librarian can help you) or a study skills center. Set yourself up for success!

You’re going to need to challenge yourself eventually, might as well get your feet wet in Sophomore English…
