My wife and our are taking our S to visit the campus and we were wondering about the tours. It appears that reservations are required, right? For the tours as well as the information sessions? Also, the website makes a distinction between Preview Sessions (for those younger than rising seniors) and Information Sessions for High School Seniors, but I did not see information that specifically mentioned which sessions were the Preview Sessions.

I also wonder whether anyone here can tell me whether the Electrical and Computer Engineering "informational tour" is primarily for rising seniors or whether it is okay for younger students.

Technically it’s not required that you register for a tour, just for interviews. You can just show up for tours. Everyone kind of gathers in the lobby and the tour guide will just say “Ok, 12 pm tour, this way!” and lead everyone out in a big mob.

I don’t know much about the ECE info tours. I do know that I’ve never heard of preview and info sessions being different events - I think usually they are the same thing. Could be wrong on that though.

About half do, it tends to be about split. My personal opinion is that there’s nothing you’ll get from the general info session that you couldn’t get from a campus and dorm tour (I know the scripts and they cover pretty much everything important). If you have the opportunity to attend a school-specific info session, on the other hand, that’s a different deal, and I do recommend doing that.

if you’re short on time, do note that there is usually nothing you can get from any sort of info session on campus that you can’t get from the respective website online

Thanks bco09 and completelykate. We will not really be short on time, though I suppose the general information session would not be that helpful. I guess what we need to determine is whether the ECE informational tour is open to students who are not rising seniors and whether it would be worth the time and effort for our S given that even though he is interested in that for now, it is a bit early.

Level of Applicant’s Interest is marked as “Important” on the common data set so if you have the time you might as well sign in at the information session and attend the info session and tour.
