Toyota Scholars - 2006 to 2008

I got my SemiFinalist packet in the mail today too!
Congrats to everyone who got it, good luck to those still waiting.
As for how many semifinalists there were, I just looked on last year's thread and someone mentioned that there had been 11,000 nominees, of which 1,000 became SemiFinalists. And from those, 100 winners.

Also, the regional winners get 10K, while the national ones get 20K. Hope that helps.

I got one too! So do you know if its the same split up as has been in the past? (i.e. 12 national finalists and 88 regional) Oh and also the website says $20,000 over 4 years, so $5,000 a year right? Congrats to all! It looks like competition will still be tough to get those 100 awards, based on all these cc'ers as semis. lol.

All of you amaze me.

This is the most educated forum ever. There should be some award given to CC for that.

I mean...1000 Semifinalists...and already we have 7 on here. And that isn't JUST out of 11,000...think of all the schools that had to choose which student to nominate...geez!

Boggles my mind.

Does anyone know if it's mandatory to attend the Toyota event or if it will hurt your chances to get Finalist?

Only because I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend becuase I have Euro History AP during that time, plus a bunch of others surrounding that time frame. I'd love to go, but May will be busy!

OH! And I just realized something. The white sheet says to send the materials to one address, while the last page on the scholarship questionaire says to send it to a completely different address!!! Where should we send?

gujugeek,

You could ask your counsellor to get permission for you to take the AP's on a the alternate dates provided by collegeboard. That is what our counsellor is doing for my D as she is attending the Prudential spirit awards during 2 of her AP's.

alright, im a semifinalist for the toyota community scholars thing. the questionnaire wants me to focus on one particular community project/activity, but is it ok if my community recommendation is about another project/activity? i tried contacting my supervisor about the project/activity i wrote about in the questionnaire, but she never responded. i think she might be away or sick. people have said just to write about the activity that my recommendation conveys, but i don't have so much to say about it. basically, my community rec is for a minor proj, and the questionnaire i filled out is about a maj proj.

Have we resolved the "two addresses" issue? If so, which do we use?

So when do we find out about finalists?

finalists find out in april.

does anyone remember what the dates are for the finalist thing in Kentucky?

I think May 10th-12th. What time in April do you think we'll hear?

ahh i hope soon

Last year around April 11th, so I'm guessing 10th or 11th...

Who else is anxious about hearing back?!

did anyone receive it yet? come on toyota, it would really really help!

Ahh, I'm so nervous.

anyone hear yet?

I haven't. Will we hear if we don't get it?

so did anyone hear back about if they're a finalist?
i mean it is the 12th...
