For all of you other EAers out there, I think it might be fun to PM each other our essays and see the different directions we took. Any takers?

I responded to the Machado quote and talked about flavor in my Why UChicago

Why the reluctance? I thought it would be fun and make the wait a little easier. Are you all waiting until after tomorrow or something? I submitted Tuesday evening.

I personally don’t want to give out my essay on the internet. But I am more than happy to read other ppl’s.

I understand but sometimes one does less-than-wise things when bored and waiting. Anyone else feeling the need for some foolishness? That’s why I suggested trading, and only with people who have clearly submitted already.

I would, I just don’t want to psych myself out. It’s stressful enough waiting for the decisions and it’s bad enough that I keep coming back to these boards. I’m trying to make myself not think about it because I want it waaayy too badly… sorry! maybe after decisions come, (if I get in omg stress)

Now that I’ve submitted my essays, I don’t want anyone else judging them. I don’t want to agonize over a bad essay that I can no longer change. I also might use the ideas in my essays for other schools and wouldn’t feel comfortable knowing others could use those same ideas.

I do plan on posting one or more of my essays on the Post Your Essay thread after I receive my decisions and after the deadlines for most rd schools pass.

oh well
I’m not good at waiting. Decision Day feels so pivotal.

There is a post-your-essay thread, and many people will decide to post their essays there once the RD deadline has passed (just so nobody has to worry about having their ideas lifted). In the meantime, chill out and enjoy your wait until decision day!

^^^ agreed. Once RD decision deadline passes, I’ll totally post my essay.

But basically, I chose the “living and dreaming essay” and dissected it from many angles. Depending on how “living” and “dreaming” are defined, what lies between the two can vary tremendously.
