Thanks,

Has anyone received information about the "Tradition Fellowship/Scholarship" Cornell has to offer?

I did, but I have no idea what the heck it is

Tradition Fellowship is a program housed under the Cornell Commitment Program (the largest of the 3). There are roughly 700ish fellows in all of Cornell. You receive grant money each year ($600-$4000) based on your need, and you are expected to work 200 hours as a freshmen (250 as an upperclass study) and do 75 hours of sports/leadership/community service in exchange. The program is a great network, and there are a ton of opportunities to complete your volunteer hours. Tradition also subsidizes jobs, so even if you don't get work-study, you are attractive to employers. They also have a LOT of money for summer stuff, so if, for example, you wanted to do a great unpaid internship, Tradition will give you either money to live in the area and complete it, or give you your 'expected summer contribution' so you don't have to worry about having to dip into savings for that. It's a great program; it was def. a good incentive to get me to Cornell! Let me know if you have any other questions... :)

is the work unpaid then? meaning you get the grant and that is your work compensation? or would one get the grant + the wages from the job?

no, you also get wages from the job! :)
