Traditional or Risky?

I'm beginning to write my essay for next year now, but i'm having some trouble. I would much rather write a very creative essay, that is a little risky, but my teachers are saying to just write a nice and safe essay. I'm a lot better at writing creative things, like short stories. Will writing a safe, traditional essay be better, or a risky, creative essay?

If "risky, creative" allows them to better get to know you, then go for it. Don't do "risky, creative" just because that style comes easier to you or because "nice and safe" sounds boring. The point of the essay is to communicate who you are. The topic and style of the essay are just tools to express.

I agree with MallomarCookie. Since you are starting early, then why don't you just write two of them? One safe and the other creative/risky. Then get some people to read them and see which ones they like the best.
