Hi,
For some reason on my official high school transcript, my school doesn’t report our weighted class rank or weighted GPA. However, when we ask our counselors, they will have the weighted rank AND weighted GPA values on their computer. On the common app, I want to report the weighted rank and GPA, though it won’t be reflected in my high school transcript.
Should I take the risk and report the weighted GPA and class rank, or does it not matter and just report the unweighted values?
Thanks in advance!
We had a similar situation in that my daughter’s high school only reports decile for class rank. She is in the 2nd decile (so between the top 11-20% of her class). She filled in the common app with her actual rank (which puts her in the top 13% of her class) even though the school would not report it that way. We asked the guidance counselor and were told she could tell someone the rank over the phone but she is not allowed to put it in writing.
I would say if you can report your rank and GPA clearly labeled “weighted”, on the common app, do it. They’ll see that your school is reporting unweighted.
