Transcripts still "in-review" ?? Anyone else in the same boat?

Hey!
So, Im going to be a freshman at Berkeley this Fall, and I had sent in my high school transcripts exactly a month ago. But as of now, the status on myBerkeleyapp is still 'in-review". Should I be worried? Actually, I'm getting especially antsy about this because I had earlier had a problem with my grades due to a medical condition, that I had informed my admissions officer about. She had said that they would "take my health in consideration" and that it "should" not affect my admission status.
I really just want to see the status become "final" because its really getting me worried.
Do you think I should contact someone? Or is it too early?
Any help would be great.

Also, anyone else in a similar situation?

Well, they sent out the “Notice of pending cancellation” emails for missing transcripts about a week ago, so at the very least you don’t need to worry about being in that boat. It’s probably not too early to contact them, but I’d imagine they’re just a bit behind or something.

It never hurts to contact them. Last year my AP scores didn’t go in until mid march - every time I contacted them, UC said they were processing, but in reality they never got the scores…but one person finally figured that out a few months later. (better to start bugging them early)

@failure622

What email did they send to? My transcripts status still says “not received” but I didn’t get any one of these letters. I’m so screwed.

@fmljat - how long ago did you send them? You should probably email your admissions officer about it. As far as I know, as soon as they receive the transcripts, the status gets updates to “received”, even if they may take forever to review them…

@failure622 - Well thats a relief… btw, how do you know they sent those out?

@meep - thanks, but im afraid they’ll get irritated if i email them…if by the 1st of August its not final, I’ll email them :)

fmljat: School email, the @berkeley one. It also showed up on myberkeleyapp, with a “Submit missing documents” on the checklist. (I had transcript issues since my spring quarter ended super late.) Might be a bit different for non-transfers, but if you’re worried about it you should definitely keep an eye on your email or contact them or something.

sonush: I don’t think they’d get irritated about it, and it might be a good idea to check up on it if you think they should’ve gotten it already.

Just a tip though, if you want to survive in Berkeley, you can’t be afraid to step on a few toes. You will probably never see them again, and chances are they won’t remember you. They can’t do anything to you even if they do get irritated…and it is their job! August 1st isn’t too far away though, so you could just wait haha

@ sonushukla: my HS told me that they send out my transcript back in June… and where can you find out who(specifically) is your admission officer? I send an email to freshmanadmit@berkeley.edu 10 days ago and never heard anything back…

@failure - They have received it, since it is in review… Im just antsy about how long it will take to get final… :/

@meep - Thanks for the advice… I’m not gonna wait till the 1st… I’ll email them on the 30th, which is a monday… I think if I say politely that my transcripts have been in review for a while, and I was just wondering how long it would take to get final, or whether there was any problem with them, they shouldn’t get irritated right? :P

@fmljat-your admissions officer will be listed on the right hand side of your myBerkeley home page. Under “My contacts”. you click on the name, and it will give you your admissions officer’s email id.

I’m having some anxiety too.

I still have one school’s transcript listed as Not Received. But I didn’t receive any email or have “Submit Missing Document” on myBerkeleyApplication. I emailed my admission officer(and dunno why my file was reassigned to another admission officer at the last minute), but have received no response for days, which kind of upsets me. I’m gonna call them next Monday.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

my school used parchement.com to send out report cards. worked fine.

@rockdomino - Wow that’s a pain… You should definitely call. I’m emailing my admissions officer tomorrow.

UPDATE-
I emailed my admissions officer and this is what she had to say - " Review of freshman files will commence sometime in August. Please remain patient as we go through our processing.
"
I dont understand. How come my friends who are going to Berkeley as freshmen too this year already have their status reading ‘final’ ?
Does this mean Im going to have to wait till end august or even september to find out if my admission is final or not? And what if it isnt? It would be ten times worse if I got kicked out then :(

Yeah. I called my admissions officer and she said they have not yet finish processing. That’s why there’s no “submit missing document” tab.

Now I just wished she could respond to emails to keep us from waiting for response for weeks and at the very last, still have to call to get the answer. Now I have to immediately send in the transcript.( my conditions of admissions have conflicting statements about submitting this transcript)

Do anyone know if transcript from colleges need to be sealed by the school? Or we could seal the envelope ourselves?

This is making people anxious!

Transcripts need to be officially sealed.

I had to hand deliver mine a few years ago since the geniuses at my high school decided to send the transcripts before the official grades were included.

Don’t worry about it, as long as they received it and your status doesn’t say you’re missing any documents, you’re fine. Transcripts aren’t really processed until the school year actually starts and might not be finalized until at least half way into the semester. If they find any discrepancies then… well you’ll be hearing from them but otherwise, don’t worry and enjoy your first year.

I had the same issue last year. There was a discrepancy on my transcript, and after multiple emails to my adviser and no responses, I went and actually visited the campus to clear things up. It turns out, she received my emails, but she never bothered to respond, and it takes a little while for the status to change from “in review”. so don’t worry as long as you make some effort (in the form of emails/calls) you will be fine. My adviser told me almost no one gets kicked out of cal because of 1 or 2 mistakes. Plus, she also told me they would never let students know this late there are issues with their admission. As someone who faced the same issue last year, don’t worry!

Thank you everyone for your help! I just thought I’d let you guys know my status finally changed today to “final”. Im really happy that I can finally be COMPLETELY excited for Cal! :)

Just one thing, I emailed my admissions officer to thank her, and she replied with a “Most welcome. Please rest assured that while your documents have been “finalized” it will still be a bit of time before your file has been “finalized” in its evaluation. There are several hands it must go through. This is just part of our process, and nothing for you to worry about. All you need to do is worry about what to pack!!! Enjoy your time at home before traveling to campus!!!”

Does anyone know what that “finalized” sentence means? She’s told me not to worry so Im going to do that now, but that second sentence just keeps nagging at a small part of my head. Can anyone offer an explanation as to what sort of evaluation happens after the status reads “final” ?
