Transfer A&O Session Dates

When was the first transfer A&O session? I signed up for July 13th, but I got the impression that some other people have earlier dates?

I’m going to try to take the July 13th A&O session too, UW just hasn’t finished processing my enrollment payment/paperwork yet! The 13th is the first available session for transfers right?

Right.

I signed up for the July 14th one! Woo, excited!

I’m officially signed up for the July 13th A&O session- I can’t wait to register for classes! Anyone else doing that day?

what is the A&O? how and were do you register for that?

thanks

July 13th for me as well!

I’m not until August 4th, because I need to get two measles vaccines. :-(

Hi everyone! I am having some trouble registering for an A&O session. I received my acceptance letter June 18th. I confirmed enrollment and paid my NSEOF June 22nd. Yesterday (the 24th) MyUW showed that my confirmation and fee has been accepted and recorded. It says I should go to the FYP page to register for an A&O session. When I try to register I get the following message:

I’m not a freshman, I set up my UWNetID in March, MyUW shows my fee has been processed, and their instructions are prompting me to register a session. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.

Is anyone else having these problems? Should I just wait a few more days? I’d like to reserve a place as soon as I can. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You need to submit your immunization records per the instructions provided…

pwickbec,

where do u check if uw got the $272?

bgbinc, thank you for the information. I’m still waiting for official documentation from my doctor. Hopefully it will be ready in the next few days. I was a unsure because the directions in one place didn’t seem to correspond to directions in other places.

nana17, for me it came up on MyFrontPage of MyUW.

I can’t wait either! And I am also signed up for July 13th!! I’m looking forward to speaking to an adviser- trying to see which classes I want/need is so confusing right now… >.<

Lillerbee- I know, the classe schedules are confusing- and the classes are filling up! Can’t wait to talk to an advisor and sign up for everything :)

pwickbec,

call the nurse and tell her that you are still waiting for proof from your doctor. she can look u up by student number and will make some changes to enable you to register for the a&o. she just helped me yesterday. she was so nice.

You don’t need the measles vaccination to register for the A&O. Try again. Sometimes it takes up to 48 hours after the deposit is received before you can register.

Also, how did everyone get in July 13? I signed up yesterday and the earliest date is Aug 3. @_@ I mean, I thought July 13 would be full by now, but is there really nothing available sooner than that?

for those of you who have an A&O session this week, feel free to share your experience :D

Hi guys-
I had my A&O last week, and I thought I would share some info with anyone wondering how it goes!

Basically, it is a long day full of information, tours, advising and meeting new transfers. Some parts of it can be a little tedious, but they tell you some great info about the university, the community at uw, registration, etc…

You arrive, and they give you a general lecture, then all the student break off into smaller groups with a student leader, who gives you more talks, takes you on various tours, bring you to advising/husky card photos, and more. There is lunch halfway through the day as well, but coffee in the morning is a good idea, believe me- and a snack for mid-morning was a lifesaver for my group, who had lecture for 3 hours straight (each group does the activities in a different order).

A couple tips:

Wear comfy shoes and be prepared for weather- even though its july, it still rains. Alot. Don’t be like me and forget a rain jacket or sweatshirt, or risk ending up soaking wet in your husky card photo…

They hand out some papers and a uw planner, so bringing a bag/backpack is a good idea- store your jacket in here too! And maybe a snack…

Make sure that your unofficial uw transcript is loaded with all your transfer credits, or make sure to bring a copy of any other unofficial transcripts, so that your advisor can see all the classes you’ve taken/what you need to take. On that note, now would be a good time to request any official transcripts from your old school, to make sure uw gets all the info it needs.

I would also suggest picking out (or at least looking at) all the classes you want/need for next quarter ahead of time. This way, your advisor knows exactly what you want, and can help you find other options if your first -choice classes are closed. Another good thing your advisor can help you do is figure out if your classes are in building that are too far apart- I had to edit my schedule unless I wanted t sprint across campus in 10 minutes everyday. My advisor was the one to point this out to me (which I probably wouldn’t have figured out by myself until the first day of classes), so this is a good idea to ask about that.

Anyway, the A&O is a bit boring, but its exciting too- you really begin to feel like a husky  Enjoy!

thanks for the info:)
