Transfer Admission

Congrats guys! Still haven’t heard anything. I’m the only one who hasn’t, so I’m guessing I’ve been rejected. I just wish they would tell me already, since I have orientation at another school in two weeks. I need to stop obsessing over it.

There’s still a chance. Yesterday I read about a guy who had to wait until May 3rd before he got accepted.

Hello everyone! I’m a transfer student from URI who just got accepted to Emerson! I’m so excited to meet other transfer students!

Congrats everyone! I got in Friday morning… Still waiting on financial aid, though I doubt that will be a lot…

Unless your needs based, Emerson is not transfer friendly regarding financial aid. They have a few merit programs if you come from a community college but that’s it. We submitted for the hell of it but were told that as we won’t qualify as needs based, there is no financial aid for transfers.

The financial aid info you got is untrue. My daughter transferred in for her sophomore year back in '10 and got great financial aid. That along with an outside $2500 a year scholarship made Emerson really affordable. She only had to take out the guaranteed student loan. She borrowed nothing at her first school. She will owe $13,500 upon graduation. Not cheap but it is all low interest student loan. The new rules for guaranteed student loans also makes it easy for her to afford it. You only pay back a percentage of your income. For what people make when they first leave Emerson that helps - a lot. So don’t get too depressed just yet. You haven’t see your financial package yet!

I don’t count loans as financial aid. I’m talking about scholarship money from Emerson. They don’t have any for transfers (unless need based), unless you come from a community college. I realize loans have their place but I’m talking about merit based scholarship money.

Have you heard anything yet? Both my best friend and my boyfriend got accepted and I haven’t heard anything yet. I am panicking. What major did you apply for?

It’s a rolling admission. So it’s very possible they simply haven’t got to you yet.

Has any theater transfers heard yet? I’m wondering if they are doing it by department.
