Transfer Admission?

OK well I go to Pitt, and I really really want to transfer to Carnegie Mellon for the 2009 Fall Semester. I'm studying engineering here at Pitt and would like to do the same at CMU.

Basically, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to increase my chances of getting in; I'm already planning to get good grades, get to know my professors (so they'll hopefully write good recommendations), and get involved in some extracurricular activities at Pitt.

So other than that, does anyone have any tips that you think could help my chances?

Thanks!

Essays would be the main thing. Transfering up is always harder since there are those that only want to transfer for the sake of prestige/higher rankings. I would suggest focusing your essays/application on why you PERSONALLY would be better off at CMU and how you would benefit the university. Whatever you do, do not complain or speak negatively of your current school (pitt).
