Transfer admissions... do I have a chance?

Hi,

I’m currently an Undeclared Sophomore at CSU Fullerton. I’m hoping to transfer up north next year, near the Bay Area, so I submitted transfer applications to SF State, Sacramento State, and San Jose State. I applied to all 3 schools for majors in the biological sciences, with physiology as my preferred major. I’m hoping to attend one of these schools come Fall 2018.

By the time of transfer, I will have all my CSU GEs completed and should have exactly 60 units. Now, the problem is that my college grades thus far are not so impressive. My GPA is 2.93 (not including the fall 2017 semester that is ending next week). My SAT score, taken in 2015, is 1830, but I’m not sure if they will even consider this since I’m coming in as a junior transfer instead of a freshman straight out of high school. They did ask for it on the Cal State application though.

I know that for UC transfers, they ask for your grades from the fall semester before you intend to transfer, as those grades don’t make it in time for the application deadline. Do the CSUs do the same? My grades this semester should be enough to boost my GPA to a 3.

Basically, I’m wondering if I really have a chance to get in to any of these schools with my poor GPA. Any advice and/or resources to take a look at would be very much appreciated, and please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide.

Thank you

I think you should be fine transferring over to a state school considering you are currently in one of the better ones now.

This is pretty old, but just an update… I did boost my GPA up to a 3.0 exactly, and so far have been accepted at SFSU and SJSU. Waiting for a decision from CSUS as well as UCD and UCSC

Congratulations!!
Let us know what other schools you’ve been accepted at!

Thank you! Tonight I checked and learned I was accepted to CSUS as well. Only UCSC and UCD to go
