Transfer admissions help

Is anyone here familiar with transfer admissions for UNC-CH?

DS is currently a sophomore and is looking to transfer schools. The biggest thing holding him back right now (mainly for selective schools) is his “low” gpa (3.2) from NYU.

I’ve been helping my son put together a short list of reach schools together and would like to see if he even has a marginal chance of getting in given his gpa. Anyone know the gpa range of accepted students at this institution? No hooks, unless being a URM counts as one.

If I were you, and your son, I would put off transferring until he can transfer in as a junior. It is much easier to get in as a junior than a sophomore.

I also do not think UNC will view 3.2 from NYU as “low”

Finally, the GPA range for 1st and 2nd year (transfers) is pretty high. :\ However, it is a lot less brutal as a junior. If he can tough it out one more year, I would advise that. However, it never hurts to try! Good luck to your son!
