The UNC-CH website is a bite confusing. If anyone could shed some light on a few issues for me, I would really appreciate it!

As a prospective junior transfer, do I need to send HS/transcripts and test scores? (I have never taken the ACT's nor SAT's.)

Also, is it worth applying given my situation:

3.55 GPA from a NY Community College; no significant EC's--although I don't know if they even consider them for transfer admissions; I am a philosophy major.

It says on their site that the average GPA for junior transfers is a 3.1. Moreover, it says that the school one is transferring from has absolutely no bearing on their decision.

Any info? What do you guys think--should I apply? Or is it too late?

Can someone chance me? I just submitted my app.

I have a 3.84 GPA at UMiami (Business School- International Finance and Marketing major). However, my cumulative transfer GPA is 3.6 because I transferred from Maryland with a 3.0 GPA. So I guess UNC-CH would consider both GPAs. The 3.84 is from 2 semester (3.74, 3.94), 3.0 was for Fall 2007. Besides academics, I'm pretty involved on campus, so a lot of extracurriculars and hold leadership positions in a few (Co-Vice President of my housing community, Community Service E-board member for few clubs). In hs, I was in the top 15% of my class, 3.7 UW/ 4.2 W, 1220 SATs/ 28 ACTs. Was involved in quite a few in school and out of school extracurriculars. My transfer essay is very strong!

chances please?

from past experience when should we hear our decisions?

sorry to hi-jack the thread but can u guys also chance me

It definitely is not a 3.1 GPA for out of state, maybe in state community college or other North Carolina public schools transfers, but definitely not out of state universities or comm. colleges.

No. It's definitely 3.1. Go on the website! It explicitly says the average GPA for junior transfers is 3.1--and that the institute you transfer from is irrelevant. So your claiming the website is inaccurate--not me.

For enrolling sophomores, the average college GPA was 3.44 and the average SAT was 1220. For enrolling juniors, the average college GPA was 3.15 and the average SAT was 1136.

Hi everyone... I'd really appreciate it if you could say what you think my chances are too!

I am currently a sophomore at UNC Charlotte. I am hoping to transfer to UNC for Fall 09. (I applied last year when I was a freshman, but I was not accepted.)

-Current GPA at UNCC = 3.93 (43 credit hours completed)
-High school GPA = around 3.6ish
-SAT scores = 630 math, 700 reading

I had an internship with an online magazine from May-August. I was then promoted to a writer position. As of January I was promoted to an editor position. I also worked for a couple months on the staff for the UNCC newspaper. I am hoping these things make me look accomplished!

What do you guys think my chances are? Thanks!

I agree that the 3.1 is most likely for in-state students. I am trying to transfer from NC State with a 3.34 and was waitlisted my sophomore year so hopefully the third time will be the one!
I don't think there is an exact number or science to getting into UNC, I think every person is different and everyone has different qualities about them.
