Transfer after freshman rejection?

I am an international student. I am a little confused regarding the transfer system in the US. I would like to know if I could apply to a college I got rejected for freshman admission as a transfer. If so when is the earliest possible time I can do it(freshman year??) and how can I maximise my chance for admission through transfer?

  1. Yes, you can apply for transfer admission.

  2. You need to check the website for information about transfer applications in order to know when the application would be due.

  3. You should do your best to get a very high GPA and good letters of recommendation from your college professors in order to maximize the chance of transfer admission.

I’m a little confused.
Are you taking freshman university classes? If nothing has changed, you will get the same answer.

Or do you hope to just apply again without having taken any classes?
Read #3 above from @happymomof1.

Ok so can i do this transfer in the freshman year for winter semester. But in that case how will the professors know me enough to write good letters

You can apply in year 1 to start at a new school in year 2, but in most cases you cannot apply in the autumn of year 1 to start at a new school in spring of year 1. There are schools that will take you in spring term if you apply in the spring term for the following spring, but same as with applying for the first time the usual route is that you apply in the autumn, they tell you in the spring, you start in the autumn.
