Hi Guys… so I go to community college in California and I am planning to transfer to UCB in the next fall. I am full time student but I also have part time job as a server. However I m worried that I do not have enough extra curricular activity ( I mean I kinda don’t besides my job). I was wondering if I should be worrying about joining any club or doing internship. I have looked some internship over the internet but I could barely find one for community college students. Do the admissions actually care about outside of school activity when you are transfer student. Any advice on these matter would be great. By the way I am Business Administration major and this is only my second semester at the college.
Working is an extracurricular activity! If you need to work to continue your education, it will definitely be taken into account by Cal. That said, I agree that you may want to look into other activities available to you. If your issue is time, then you should be extremely efficient with what time you have and pick a few activities that you can passionately partake in. Cal wants to see not only involvement, but passion.
Also, don’t fall into the trap that you should only do extracurricular activities related to your major. Do whatever interested you and demonstrate it.
For admissions, you can talk about what you love to do outside of school/work, something new that intrigues you and not just an internship, grades, etc.
