My dd is applying and has been using the college’s own application. Yet there seems to me no option to link supplementary materials, such as links to website showing her work or portfolio material. The common app has this option. Should she begin again and fill out the common app to apply? Anyone familiar with this issue? Thanks in advance.
I thought Common App for transfer was still in beta phase, with only a dozen or so colleges participating this spring, w/ full roll-out scheduled for the autumn?
Hi collegemom3717 . The Common App for transfer application for Fall 2018 became available in August according to the Columbia site.
I am not expert but it may be that Columbia is one of the first trial group? For your daughter all that matters is which of the schools she is applying to use it, and in the case of the app she has already started, are they accepting both versions (their own and the new Common App). The common app transfer is different than the regular common app, and I haven’t gone all the way through the transfer one to see what the differences are.
Okay I see that now. I did see this link exploring through the Common App site. I have not tried to see the new one either, but it is not available for the colleges she’s considering. The only reference I had seen was on the college’s site referring to what must be the regular college app for transfer… Sorry! I have now seen this: don’t know if the link will open here. https://appsupport.commonapp.org/link/portal/33011/33013/Article/4608/What-is-the-new-Common-App-for-Transfer
That’s a useful link- thanks (short cut to touring through the new site!)
