Transfer application - "cover letter"?

I have one school in particular that I really want to go to. This school doesn't ask for a "why us" essay. I'm wondering whether it's okay to send a short additional document explaining that if I get in I will definitely attend and why. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

P.S. I posted this in the admissions forum but got no response, so I'm trying again here :)

It depends on who your admission officer is going to be. Someone like me would be like - "that dude cannot follow directions". Somebody else could be like - "how cute!".

l84ad8 makes a good point. Perhaps send it later with supplemental info, like updates on grades, and LABEL IT as such! Like, "I know this was not requested, but I want to emphasize how important this school in particular is to me."

When my daughter applied for admission to all her schools originally and when she applied for transfer admission, she included a cover letter for everything she sent in. It is a way to do a mini-why us essay. If she filed something online (like the application),she did not include anything extra. But when she sent in transcripts, etc, she included a cover letter stating "enclosed is (whatever documents she was sending)" and then a short paragraph about what she liked about the school. This is a trick I learned from hanging around CC for many years that SoozieVt suggested. Also, I am from the era that when you send anything in the mail you include an explanation (cover letter). My daughter had positive results.

Thank you all! I'll take it into consideration and keep thinking.
