Hi everyone! I’ve been browsing these boards and seen discussions about transferring late, but my situation is a little odd. I’m currently a Bachelor of Music, and made it all the way to the end of Junior year (sitting at 100 credits) before I realized that working in the arts is depressing to me— I need a discipline based in concrete principles, and I always loved science and math before I got infatuated with music.
So this coming year I’m basically starting over: I’m going to take on a full load of Chem E classes, and I’ll be able to declare it as my major after Fall semester. I’m staying at University of Tulsa one more year because that’s how much longer I have on my music scholarship— after that I’ll need to transfer to a cheaper public school because TU is such an insanely expensive school that it would be ridiculous to stay here with no scholarship.
SO— What sort of obstacles am I looking at transferring to another institution with over 130 credits, but still needing AT LEAST another 2 years of classes? What measures should I take when applying— calling ahead to ask questions, notes on transfer application about my situation, anything— to make my intentions and situation clear, and increase my chances of being considered?
