Hello! I was a pretty active member of CC but decided to make a new ID for the new year... Thought I'd get started early on the action.

I'm going to be a freshman at CSU Long Beach as an English major in Fall 2009. I'm a President's Scholar there (basically a full-ride scholarship they give to valedictorians or National Merit Scholars) and I got it because I was a NM Semifinalist. During high school I had a 4.1 GPA, received 4's and 5's on nine AP exams total, and a 2260/33 (SAT/ACT) during senior year. Basically the reason why I am attending CSU Long Beach is because my parents are in a terrible financial crunch right now and could not afford UC Irvine for me. CSULB was the only one that gave me financial aid; by next year I hope to be relieved of this financial mess, though...

Do you think it would be possible for me to transfer out of CSULB into another college as a sophomore? I have quite a bit of AP credit, and I registered for six classes (16 units total) for the fall semester. I plan on taking 18 units for the spring semester. Based on my high school records, my goal is to pull off at least a 3.7 at CSULB this semester - not unreasonable, right?

So far I'm thinking of UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Occidental College. I've heard of how difficult it is to do a CSU->UC transfer but I figured it may be worth a try. Is this possible with a 3.7, being a sophomore transfer? I'm going to need FA as well, ugh. lol and does anyone have any other recommendations? I'm looking for small, LACs like Occidental, with good opportunities for internships and/or pre-law programs. I'm not sure what caliber of schools would fit me as a transfer just yet.

Thanks.
