Transfer as Political Science or Political Economy major?

Hi guys!
Just applied to Berkeley as a 3rd year transfer with the major of Political Economy. Originally I was a Poli Sci major and I still am. Berkeley is the only UC that accepts poli econ as major. Is it worth taking the extra econ class to finish the pre reqs for this major? Or should I play it safe and apply as just a political science major. Also wondering which major had a higher acceptance rate. Thank you.

Google online and you can find the acceptance rates.

As for your other questions, that depends on what you want to do. If you want police economy, take the extra classes. If you don’t, then don’t.

Couldn’t find rates

@Asharya Hopefully, you see this before the application deadline, but Political Economy and Political Science are two very different majors at Cal. Different departments. Completely different course work. Additionally, the two years of foreign language requirement for PE must be satisfied with college level work. It cannot be waived with three high school courses like the GE/IGETC requirement.

Political Economy at Cal is the specific study of economic systems and their effects on political systems. If you want to study International Relations, Comparative Politics, Political Philosophy, Legal Systems, etc, major in Political Science. If you have to ask yourself whether you want to take an extra economics course rather than jumping at the opportunity because you find economics thrilling, do not apply under Political Economy. The upper division economics courses that you would have to take at Cal would be hell for those who are not passionate about the subject.
