I am currently a student at the City College of New York and i was wondering what my chances of being accepted into Columbia as a transfer student after my 2nd semester if my gpa is 3.5-3.8 Thanks in advance

you don't provide enough information. what were your high school stats? are you applying for sophomore or junior status? what are your test scores? extracurriculars? ethnicity even? unless you conquer at those areas, a 3.5-3.8 is not a very competitive gpa for columbia. i also attend a cuny and my 'dream' school is columbia. i ended up getting a 3.6 gpa my first semester and thats pretty terrible considering i go to a cuny/with no very difficult courses except for maybe some honors sections. basically, ive decided not to apply. you need to post more info about yourself if you want any real help from here.

you pretty much need a 4.0 at a CUNY to have a chance at columbia...its a pretty huge jump. Are you applying for columbia college or general studies? Also, important additional information would include why you ended up at a CUNY.

^^^^I agree. Columbia accepts around 10% of transfer applicants. You will need a 3.9+ to have a real shot coming from a CUNY.

And make sure you've researched the school well as far as the integration of transfers into the student body before you set your heart on it.

Where did you get that stat from? I read on collegeboard they admitted about 700 out of about 2100 transfers

im sorry thats wrong. those are cornells numbers
