Transfer chances/advice (Penn st/UF/rutgers)

Hi. I'm just finishing up freshman year at Clemson and am thinking about transferring because I'm not that happy here and don't think it's a good fit for me. I'd like to transfer to a larger school, but it has to be a school with an equal or better academic reputation and mechanical engineering program. What are my chances at getting into these schools for Spring 2014 semester? And which should I choose, if any?

Rutgers
Penn State
University of Florida
Maybe one of the Universities of California
Any other suggestions for schools?

3.62 GPA first semester at Clemson
Club tennis and an honors society (but not in hon. college)
Probably will get mostly B's this semester, maybe a couple A's.
From nj, 3.9 weighted hs gpa.
SAT-2170: Math-750, Writing-700, Critical Reading-720

Uf is your best bet dude, go gators! Good luck!

Dear Transfer Chances:
What did you dislike about your first year at Clemson?
I am finalizing my decision between Penn State and Clemson this week and would welcome any insights you have.
I live in PA and love Penn State but also liked Clemson because it would be a change of pace/ better weather/ less kids from my high school?

clem16student, told you before but I’ll say it again, take a look at the University of Pittsburgh! I think you might face some of the same problems at Penn State that you did at Clemson. It’s definitely a bigger student body so it might not be as bad but you mentioned location being a problem and well Penn State is in the middle of rural Pennsylvania (similar to Clemson, large football school in a small town). I considered Pitt for engineering and I loved my visit there - great city, they have tons of stuff to do there (discounted Pirates/Penguins tickets, discounted tickets to shows/musicals/performances). I’d definitely check it out as a transfer option over Penn State (would have been there if I had decided I didn’t want to try out college in the southeast).

13Senior13, if Clemson sounds appealing to you, go for it! I don’t know what your major is or financial situation since that would probably make a difference for you. I can’t help you make your decision but I’m from the Boston area and have enjoyed my experience at Clemson. It’s definitely not New England or Pennsylvania if that’s what you’re looking for but if you’re open to seeing the South, Clemson would be a good place. (Know a bunch of people from the North who transfer back because they can’t stand how some southerners act/think etc…) The weather is definitely awesome here (been 70s since last month) and I definitely liked that nobody from my high school came here so I could start over and make new friends. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about Clemson!
