Hi all!
I applied in December to UF as a transfer student for fall 2013 (I currently have 63 credits). I currently attend Santa Fe College (CC for UF) and in my required courses for transfer, I have a 2.56 GPA (2.5 is required for admission). I applied to CALS as a Microbiology major. The admission coordinator for CALS said I will know no later than July 15.. but I can't wait that long, I'm dying here! What are my odds of getting in UF as a transfer to CALS? I'm freaking out and feel like I've worked hard for nothing!

Is micro a limited program? What’s the story behind your GPA? If you can’t wait that long, do you have a back up plan?

Micro is not a limited program. I can wait that long… I just don’t want to
Story behind my GPA… my actual GPA for all classes I’ve taken is 3.2. But my core prereqs (chems, bios, calculus) is a 2.56. Struggled with the classes, nothing more than that to it.

How do you know if a particular major is limited?

You “can’t” wait that long, because you’ve got to make a decision on another offer, or you “can’t” wait that long because the waiting is killing you?

I’m sure everyone wants to be positive and on the up and up, and I wish you the best of luck, but a 2.56 core GPA sounds pretty non-competitive for such a tough university to get into. If you’ve already been offered an admission somewhere else, and have a hard deadline to decide coming up before July 15th, you may want to give it some serious thought. If you’re just impatient and have no critical dates coming up before July 15th, just wait it out and cross your fingers.

No other schools I’ve applied for- just don’t want to wait it out. My friend just got in with a similar GPA, so I’m hoping for the best and crossing my fingers!
