Transfer Chances? (Low GPA if you're tired of seeing the usual high ones)

What are my chances at the cal states (minus SDSU and SLO) and lower tier UCs? (UCR, UCM, UCSC). I already got accepted into cal poly pomona for winter 2011 but I wanted to know if I should gladly accept the admit or try my chances at a school with a better business program/closer to home

CCC student (Pierce College)

GPA: 2.96
Units: 62 after this semester
Major: accounting

I know beggars can't be choosers but still....I have to send in my enrollment confirmation deposit by the 28th to CPP and I just want to know my options.

You would certainly be accepted at UCM and UCR and UCSC are not outside the range of possibility. As for CSUs, because of the enrollment cuts they have had to make you would probably need a higher GPA to get into any of the better CSUs than you would to get accepted at a lower tier UC. CCP is probably a better university than UCM so you might want to seriously consider staying with the bird in the hand.

I see, thanks for the input bro. What about CSU Fullerton? I heard their business programs good but since its impacted I don’t know my chances there, also heard CSUN wasn’t bad too. Do I have chances at these two CSUs?

It will likely depend on whether you are applying from the service area of one of those schools. If you are in either the CSU Fullerton or CSUN service areas your chances are probably pretty good, if not, getting into either one is far less likely.

man, that’s just weird then. How/why’d I get accepted into Pomona then? Is CPP on the down trend as far as academics go? If I can barely get into csun for being in the service area why did CPP accept me?

I got accept to both CPP and CSUF. Also, CSULA. My GPA is only 2.7 and I have exactly 60 units. I’m in LA county. I think you should try ;)

Hey, just wanted to give you some advise:

I’m as well an Accounting major and did my research on finding a university that has a decent accounting program and I found that CSUN would be my best option (considering that none of the UC’s offer it and private Universities are either too expensive or too hard to get in to)

look into CSUN!/ Im still looking and curious, so if anyone can shoot me some advise that would be cool… 8)

Oh nice! Just wondering, what’s your major/which CSU did you attend? Cuz I’m pretty sure at CSUF and CSUN accounting is an impacted major D:

And yeah mattac I’ve heard CSUN’s program is pretty good, probably not as good as SDSU or SLO but still decent.

@ Pattiiz

when you were filling out the applications to these schools; how many units did you have completed at that time?

I’m curious because I’m applying to CSUN right now but I only have 36 units completed as of now and am applying for Fall 2011.

*Are they going to take this into consideration/ a reason for denied?

thanks

@ ScYrO

Not too familiar with those schools, but ill look into them…
But yeah, as far as CSU’s I believe CSUN would be an Accountant major’s best option.

Does anybody know better?

Also: SLO in my opinion is an overall better school than Northridge but as for an accounting major they only offer Bachelors in Business with a concentration in accounting vs. CSUN which offers a B.S. in Accountancy

@ScYrO
I also major in accounting. I already confirmed to CSUF, and I’m sending the deposit to CPP tomorrow for back up.

@mattac
I completed 43 units and taking 17 units right now. I applied for Spring 11 though. I think you should call the school just to make sure.
