Hey guys. I'm new to the board. So my question is:

I'm a first generation student in my family, coming from a working class. I did community college around town for a year and a half and I'm close to graduating with an Associates, but I think I'm a class short. Anyway, I have 49 credits and my GPA is a 3.5. What are my chances at transferring to (my first choice) the University of Richmond.

Thanks guys and I know most of you guys are helpful, I love navigating through these boards.

What are your ACT/SAT scores? Although it’s not the end-all be-all, it’s still a factor considered by the school.

After frequenting these boards for almost a year now (although I rarely post), I’ve realized that “chancing” a student for college is incredibly inaccurate. There’s no formula or science behind the admission decision. And quite frankly, we don’t know what’s going on behind those doors. A student with a lower GPA and test score might be favored over another student with high scores. There are too many factors we can’t predict. This year, I applied to Richmond expecting an acceptance letter and was shocked to discover a little envelope in my mailbox telling me I was waitlisted.

With that said, good luck!

Thnx! By the way, got in!
