transfer chances

<p>i spent my first year of college at rutgers newark and it has been absolutely awful, so im looking at schools to transfer to for fall 08. penn state is desirable, but what are my chances?
high school gpa = 3.53
SATs: 2110 (dont remember the distributions. also, just out of curiosity, would there be any point in retaking the SATs now? im positive id get a higher score)
varsity soccer junior and senior years
varsity winter track senior year
national honors society
various employment positions </p>

<p>current college gpa: 2.9. its that low because of a 1.95 i got in the fall. so i do plan on getting it up to at least a 3.4 by the time i apply
no actual ECs, just more work experience.</p>

<p>a several reasons, really. the tuition is free university-wide because my mom works at the waksman research institute under rutgers, so rutgers was pretty much the number one choice as far as finances went. i got into the engineering school and the arts and sciences in new brunswick and the business school at newark. newark drowned me in their crappy brochures, promising 5g worth of scarlet scholarships toward housing, a spot at the honors college and the chance to play soccer. sounded like a pretty sweet deal.</p>
