Hi,
I am desperate to transfer from Troy University to some other university
I have completed 49 credit hours.
I have a 4.0 GPA
I need a college that provides generous financial aid for transfer students (I can pay like 4000 per year)
and needless to say it should have a better rating that my current university.
Thank you
What is your home state? You may not get a big scholarship, but may get other FA from your home state that makes it do-able.
No I am an international student
@Vinci7890
I think you are going to have a hard time finding a college that is $4000 or less per year…including your living expenses and tuition and fees.
I meant 4000 on my tuition and fees not including the living expenses
Really unlikely to beat the deal you have at Troy if you are only paying $4k toward tuition. You might be able to get a better deal in another country like Germany.
U of Wyoming just started offering transfer scholarships. Not sure what they are or if internationals are eligible, but you can check. You have to decide if it has a higher ranking than Troy. Other western schools may also have transfer/international funding.
Most colleges don’t even provide domestic transfer students with financial aid. Being an international will be tough to gain any funding. Most students are offered loans. You need to target colleges in the midwest and south that may provide some aid.
@“aunt bea” any suggestions for universities in the south or midwest?
@twoinanddone I am willing to pay more than $4k if I get to someplace better than troy. What are my options at Germany?
What are your reasons for wanting to leave Troy? Why isn’t it good enough? In what ways does the college you transfer to need to be better than Troy? What’s your major?
Are you a German citizen? Or citizen of the EU? Do you speak fluent German?
@thumper1 I am from Nepal : I speak 4 languages and this doesnot include German
@Madison85 I am computer science major at troy and I want to leave troy because I dont think a major from this university will take me somewhere nice for grad school. Also I dont want to stick with CS for my major. If I get into a better rated school I want to try something different like Biology. The point being I am just taking CS art Troy because its the only major which has a little bit of future with being a troy student.
What exactly do you want to do for grad school?
I will stick with my first answer…I don’t think you are going to be able to afford to transfer…the finances aren’t going to work.
Plus…it’s June 1. Even transfer applicants for fall 2017 have been notified of acceptances.
My bet is you can major in biology at Troy…but what do you want to do with a biology major?
If you don’t speak German, college in Germany ismgoing to be tough…it’s taught in German.
There are virtually no options for int’l transfer students that need a TON or aid or merit.
What do you want to do with a bio major?
bio major at Troy is fine. Bio is a staple major…every school is going to have a good-enough dept.
What is your career goal if you change to a bio major?? Medicine? If so, then that’s not a good idea since you won’t get into a US med school as an int’l.
You already have almost half of your credits for a CS degree. Finish THAT at Troy, and then if you want another degree, go for a masters.
What is your career goal with bio???
