Transfer Decision Advice - Electrical Engineer

Basically, to make a long story short; I’m an electrical engineer that’s planning to finish my intended major. I’ve got my college decisions down to University of Miami (UM) and Polytechnic Institute of NYU (POLY). Both universities are quite different, quite expensive, and I believe offer an equal amount of pro’s and con’s. If anyone can tell me their personal experience or advice, I’d greatly appreciate it. I want to ensure that I am making the best decision to my ability. In addition, can anybody tell me if $20,000+ in loans a year is worth it for either university? Thanks.

Are you transferring as a freshman or a junior? If you are a freshman, it might not be unwise to stay for another year, make your GPA better, and then see if you can get more money or get into different schools.

If you are a freshman, I don’t think that either school is worth 60k in loans. But they might be worth 40k…

hi, late reply, but anyway: I’m going to Poly next year on an honors scholarship that covers all but 4k of the tuition costs. So maybe you yourself also won’t necessarily have to pay $20k :stuck_out_tongue: can’t speak for U Miami though. good luck!
