does it really take until june 1st to give out decisions? thats way too late! Why is it so late?

because they don't decide on transfers until after they've dealt with freshman decisions.

thats dumb! at least the ucs know how to handle transfers!

If you're applying as a junior, you hear earlier. If you're applying for sophomore status, then they have to see your spring grades first - and they don't get them till like mid-May. So decisions actually come out really fast.

And as for the UCs knowing how to "handle" transfers, consider they only really accept junior transfers, not sophomores. So instead of having current freshmen wait until June 1st for decisions, they have to wait a whole year to even apply! :)

USC pwns the UC's...hahah I can't believe i just said pwn

also UCs have an earlier deadline of 11/30 compared to USC's deadline of early February

btw I was a sophomore transfer and I got my acceptance before they saw my spring grades

when did you get your acceptance? and by "earlier" do you mean may instead of june?

Most likely, not only were your college grades good but your SAT and HS GPA were good enough to get in as freshman anyway - did you apply the year before?

yeah and I got rejected. My gpa and SAT were solid, but I had no ECs

and yeah I got my acceptance in May. I remember a few other sophomores that got accepted before they saw spring grades. It isn't that rare. I was just really prepared with my application. When I got rejected, I immediately planned my transfer app

is it too late to apply as a transfer? i know the deadline is feb. 10th, but i was wondering if my chances would be really slim because i havn't applied yet and its so late in the admissions process...thanks

The deadline was actually Feb. 1st.

yeah i just realized..im such an idiot, oh well...i applied any way, do u guys know of any exceptions where applicants who applied after the deadline were considered for application? it says on the website that if u apply after the deadline you just arent guaranteed priority review, but that doesnt mean you are out of the picture completely...wow i cant believe i was so careless

Why not give them a call and ask? Or risk the fee and send the application out ASAP.

jbusc, as a junior transfer, do you know how much earlier we hear? admissions office told me april or may

Probably april or may then. By april they've sent out most freshman acceptances and they probably have a good idea how many spots they have left open for transfers.

yeah, i sent out my app as soon as i found out...i talked to the rep for my area and he said that it should be fine, and that i will find out with everybody else before june 1st....im still pretty sure that the admisions people wont look at my app too seriously if i missed the deadline...oh well, its the price i pay for my recklessness.

i got my decision in july (spring admit).

were we supposed to get all transcripts in by feb 1st? or do we still have time...i requested my transcripts and stuff but i still have not gotten some from my colleges...anyone know what the policy is?

you've still got some time. they sent out notices to all applicants that didn't have their transcripts in by the last week of january... but that's not to say that you shouldn't get them in as soon as possible.

i talked to admissions yesterday bc my college transcript was lost in the mail. she said that they havent really even started to look at transfer apps and that i shouldnt worry. just send out ur supp. materials as soon as you can.
