transfer decisions?

There was nothing at the top of your unc page that says something like "important message for you"....son said it was written in a different font---he missed it at first.

alright well me and my dad both checked, i guess they just havent made a decision on me yet

Hey UNCjtd20 don't worry, I have a friend who is in the same boat as you... she has no idea whats going on.... sorry to hear that you haven't yet heard, but I would just give the admissions office a call tomorrow

I got in. Who was the first person you told? I sent my brother an email through my new UNC account. I hadn't told anyone I was applying for transfer so he was shocked. My parents still don't know. So who did you tell first?

i was wondering if anyone knew how heavily considered a high school transcript is to a college admissions office when you're transferring for your sophomore year into UNC. do they tend to concentrate more on your college transcript, or do they look at both transcripts equally?

i got in this year as a junior transfer and was denied last year, i was told by numerous people that it was prolly cuz of my lower high school gpa, as a sophomore transfer they do look more into your high school grades since there isnt much yet to look at for you freshman year at your current college

I'm in!! Best of luck to everyone who is on the waitlist and don't lose hope.

Question to those who are in, do you think transfer students will be placed in Odum this year?

do we have any say in where we are placed or do they do it automatically?

I'm in!!!
Does anyone know how registration will go at UNC? I've always struggled at my current university during registration. Are we basically the last people to register for classes for the fall?

uhhh... this is the message when I got the imporant updates for you icon this morning:

Dear Joseph :

Thank you once again for applying for admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Your application remains under review. We expect to be able to notify you of our decision within the next few weeks. In the meantime, please know that we appreciate your interest in Carolina and will make every effort to complete our evaluation as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Stephen Farmer
Assistant Provost and Director of Undergraduate Admissions

--- does that mean I am weightlisted or what?

UNCjtd20, I have no idea. Think I would call and ask them. Good luck--pulling for you!!!!

thanks...i really appreciate it

good luck jtd:)

just got waitlisted...I'm trying to be optomistic about it since Carolina is such a good school, and the fact that my chances are still good. Do they place a ton of people on the waiting list or just a select few? And if I get really good grades to finish the semester do you guys think I'll get in?

Do you guys recommend setting up an Onyen, I have my PID# so I was just wondering what purpose that serves if we're not even admitted yet, would that affect my chances at all if I created an Onyen?

transferstudent---did you get into Michigan? I saw you were applying for transfer to Ross

Did everyone's admit letter look like this...just trying to see if their were any deviations or if it was all standard (except for the college admitted to and the class of course) (not to torture the waitlisters, I hope you all get in)

Dear Jessica:

It gives me great pleasure to offer you admission to the Sophomore Class at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the following school: General College. Even among the many strong students applying for admission this year, your academic and personal achievements set you apart. We believe that you have an exciting future ahead of you, and we hope that Carolina will be the next step in your journey.

Because we want you to finish strongly and come to Carolina ready to excel, your enrollment will depend upon your successful completion of your current academic year and your continued achievement at the level that enabled us to offer you admission. If you are currently enrolled in spring courses, we require that you have your final end-of-year record sent to us as soon as it becomes available.

cellardoor7,

I haven't heard from Ross yet are you applying to? The deadline was 3/31 and I submitted slightly before that so I think I still I have some time. I know UNC and Ross are pretty close so I'm still trying to figure out whether it is good or bad news that I got waitlisted.

thats what my admissions letter looked like, anyone have any idea where the "best" place to live is as a sophmore?

alright well i haven't got accepted yet (fingers crossed). but i used to live in chapel hill and i go there all the time to see friends so take my opinion for what it's worth. Granville towers are probably the nicest dorms on campus... and they offer the best location for getting to the majority of classes (based on information from friends). They are also located right next to the frat houses if you're into greek life and stuff like that. I go to Appalachian State right now, in the mountains of North Carolina and the dorm rooms here are like jail cells compared to Granville. i'd try to room there or try off campus. that's just my opinion though.
