I didn't even know about the online section--I will tell him about that. Are you staying on campus or were you looking at off campus housing? We have a bunch of apts. lined up to look at. Hopefully, we will find something that he likes, is convenient and in price range. I am actually looking forward to trip as I haven't seen anything of Chapel Hill except for when I was on campus for a couple graduations and that was just somewhat of a blur!

Yes...I recommend the online courses through the Friday Center as well! My d signed up for a summer class to get her visual/performing art requirement out of the way. It's an Art History class she thought would be much more interesting and fun taken here in Houston where she has access to good museums in the Museum District. (The course encourages as much first hand exposure to art/museum visits as possible.)

Great option for regular semesters as well.

Just got back from our housing trip. Son met with advisor. She didn't think he will have a problem getting in hours. He is going to sit down and tweak schedule and look at the online options too.

We looked at lots of apartments/condos and finally he settled on one on MLK/airport rd. It is conceivably within walking distance and also has bus stop in front.

Have to report also we had some good meals. Two lunches--one at "Top of the Hill" and one at "Vespa"--dinner at PF Chang---breakfast at "Breadmen's" (great blueberry pancakes).

Between getting lost and looking at housing in all the areas of Chapel Hill and Carrboro, I feel that we got a great overview of the area. Son loved it!

mkm: That's so good to hear; glad everything went well and you found some great restaurants, too. Another really good one is Lime & Basil, a Vietnamese restaurant which is really excellent. I haven't eaten at Breadmen's in many years, but I do remember them having terrific pancakes and blueberry bread. Nice to hear your son loved the trip, the area, etc.

Glad you and your son had fun mkm...isn't Chapel Hill great? A 'funny' about the Vespa restaurant. The owner constantly stops my d when she is scootering around Franklin and asks her to come eat there. She thinks he just wants to have more than that one old Vespa parked out front...lol!

MKM- I just signed a lease for a fabulous townhouse at E Franklin & 15/501 intersection. I'm so excited!!! Is your S's housing in a community?? mine is residential.

cellardoor, I guess you would call it a community--it is what I call a "complex". The units are privately owned, but there is a fair number of them plus a pool. His is managed by a rental agency who represents the owners of about half of them.

Jack, my older son (who dated a girl at UNC for 4 years) went with us. He did the restaurant picking and I remember him pointing out Lime & Basil--plus many others that I want to try!!
