transfer decisions?

yea im in the same situation...i think i'm gonna just have to pay the 100 deposit on that date just so i have time to see what other options i end up with

Yeah unfortunately I'm going to have to pay the 100 dollars too even if I don't attend. I wonder how much money they make off of this every year. haha :-p.

i just got my acceptance into clemson today, but i've made my decision and will stick with UNC, i've always dreamed of going to chapel hill, so I'm 100% sure that's where im goin

hopefully somethin comes up and gives u guys a hint at which way to go, good luck with whatever u choose

granville towers?? neone know some info that can let me know?? i konw its expensive but besides that

i'll be living there next year samuial, in one of the single rooms...seems like most people on here hate it, but i've seen plenty of posts other places from people that dont have a problem at all and say it is a great place to live...

don't let people scare you off with the whole frat/party thing...hey if u dont like to party who says u have to cuz u live there, just ignore it and do ur own thing...i honestly dont mind that at all as i come from a small college atmosphere on a lacrosse team lol...so i think i can handle the partying

let me know if u end up deciding on granville..

Hey everyone, I'm visiting Chapel Hill next weekend. Any suggestions on what I should do? I'm thinking a tour is a waste of time.

UNCjtd20, anything yet?

no....sadly. good news is i can't hear back any later than wednesday so now i'm just gonna wait it out i suppose.

OK. Well, fingers crossed for you--good luck, and let us know when you hear!

african34, how was your visit?

eh, it was more confusing than anything as far as making a final decision goes. friday was the last day of classes and there wasn't much going on, and i didn't really have the opportunity to do much at the university except hang around and take a tour. campus was really beautiful and their food (lenoir cafeteria) was much better than at my current school.

why was it confusing?

ARClax

UNC vs Clemson?....that's a no brainer...have you visited Clemson?....there is NO comparison between the town of Chapel Hill and Clemson SC.

My D was very interested in Clemson until she saw the town, or what they call a town...you have to drive to Greenville, Charlotte or Atlanta for travel. Clemson has a very nice campus with a lake and a golf course but it is sooo remote. You can almost blink and miss the town.

Additionally, unless you plan on studying engineering, UNC will rank higher in every aspect. Glad you realized that UNC was by far the better choice. Good luck at UNC!

Anyone knows how competitive it is if I apply to the business school in Fall and attend in Spring 2008?

I think I read that they hold 30 slots for spring, but have no idea how many applicants.

I am thinking of living in a granville single room...does anyone have any opinions...contact me via aim: dvd2273

Has anyone done course registration or had an advising session via phone?

ive registered for courses...pretty much took me a week to read everything and plan with gen ed req....have not had advising session yet, i should get on that

Son did his course registration--was only able to get one course he wanted and that wasn't even required for major. He has advising session tomorrow--we are driving over and he is combining that with a trip to look for housing. Hope the advisor has some words of wisdom as he ended up with some really strange classes that he is not too thrilled about--but think they do meet some perspectives.

cellardoor, you are right, it takes a lot of reading and jumping back and forth between screens to try and figure out what you need, what is open, what works in time slot, etc--plus not knowing campus, son was wary of scheduling back to back classes without knowing how far walk time was between locations. Next semester should be easier for you all when you know the ins and outs!

mkm- I was just on campus looking for housing this weekend and tell your S not to worry too much about back to back classes as almost all academic bldgs are in the same quad. I have 3 mwf classes 10 min apart in diff bldgs, and i'm not afraid...I'll bring a bike worst case scenario. ALSO I had to register for a course for my minor and the waitlist was at about 17 students for each section so I went to the carolina courses online section and got the class! All full-time CH students are allowed one online course per semester, your S should look into that, it definately decompresses the schedule.
