Transfer difficulty

I started out at a four year college in my state. I basically performed horribly due to readjustment issues. I was not in my hometown and I was a biology major. I decided I wanted to major in electrical engineering. I enrolled in a local CC at my home town. I am applying to Clemson as a transfer. Since I switched majors,I was required to take a lot more courses for my general engineering requirements, as the Bio required different requirements. I hAve completed every single requirement to start electrical engineering major ( meaning the actual core-no more general education ). My gpa was abysmal at my former Uni, I assumed that retaking the classes would just replace them. It turns out the new school I am applying to recalculates my gpa using both institutes. This is rather tragic considering it moves me to a 2.56 GPA. If they would have just considered my latest gpa then I wouldn’t be worried at all. Unfortunately there are classes that I cannot retake anywhere at my CC. These are upper level bio courses that are only taught at 4 year universities. In addition, I took classes that were purely elective and helped me in no shape or form( Due to my own stupidity , unfortunately we didn’t have very good advisors). One of the reasons I didn’t stay at my home school was the extreme cost of living. My tution was cheap, but living costed me 10,000 a semester. Once my GPA toppled, I lost my financial aid ( won’t be getting it back any time soon since I can’t retake the courses I failed). Since I have finished all of my requirements, denial to the university would literally leave me stranded. I thought about applying to a near by school to finish an electrical engineering degree but the cost is rather expensive. Such as 23,000 for tution alone. These are private institutions in my state. Out of state is out of the question since it would definitely cost me more as an Out of state applicant. I am at least 3 years away from graduating(most likely 4 if I did a Co-oP). I don’t see what kind of suggestions I would receive, other than retaking classes at my CC. Unfortunately I don’t want to waste too much time, because I will have to start paying off my student loans. If I am rejected then I’m not really sure on what to do,other than just abandoning an EE degree.

If someone has been in a similar situation, please give me some advise on what you did if you were unable to get into a university at this point.

Why don’t you try to get general electives out of the way at a community college? It would be affordable, bring up your GPA, and then you can apply after a year or two!

Does your CC have a formal articulation agreement with Clemson for your major? If it does, then the Transfer Advisor at your CC should be able to help you with this.

If there is no articulation agreement with Clemson, what places do have that agreement? It is normal fo CCs to have at least one in-state public U where their pre-engineering students are guaranteed a space.

I was accepted, so I assumed they just looked at my later GPA.
