Hey, I just completed my freshman year at Union College with a 3.9. My SAT was 1430 (v:800 m:630), and I have fairly good ECs.

I am applying to Northwestern, Oberlin, NYU, and WASHU for spring transfer. My dilemma is this: I am anxious to leave the school I am at as soon as possible, so, among other reasons, I can stop putting as much painful pressure on myself to make immaculate grades for transfer, and also just because I don;t want to spend more time than I have to in that setting. However, the one school I am REALLY excited about on that list is Northwestern, and it seems to be something of a reach.

I dont know whether I should put off transfer till fall of junior year, and risk a lot more and spend more time in a place where i am unhappy in order to open up schools (that don't accept spring transfers) which i am even more excited about.
I feel like its a pretty big risk, and the spring thing allows me atleast a fall-back plan (fall transfer). Transferring is a big deal for me, and I have been thinking about it for such a long time now, so i want to do the all-in-all right thing. Its a tough call for me, and any input from anyone would be very very appreciated.
Thanks,
Nat
