Transfer Enrollment Deposits

I was accepted recently to one of the schools I applied to. This college requires an enrollment/housing deposit three weeks after decisions have been released. The other schools I applied to release at latest by May 15. My question is, should I submit an enrollment deposit to the college I’ve already been accepted to?

Due to COVID-19 and other factors I am still deciding if I will remain at or leave current place. I want to hear back from other colleges before I decide on whether to attend the school I just got into (NU). But unsure about whether I can send enrollment/housing deposits and then not attend. Would this affect admission to other colleges? I’ve been navigating the transfer process myself and frankly some of it is quite confusing. Any help is greatly appreciated. I’d like to maintain my acceptance to NU, but also find out about other colleges and then have a bit of time, probably a week max to evaluate options.

Have you tried asking the admissions whether they could grant you an extension? I saw someone from the Columbia Transfer thread did this and specifically said that it was for financial reasons, and they were given an extension

@eepbeep thanks for the tip off. i’ll send an email to admissions.
