I'm trying to transfer to a school where I was rejected as a Freshman. Would it be good to acknowledge the previous application in an essay, or do I pretend that it never happened? I've been looking around, but I haven't seen this question answered yet.

Thanks for the help!

Don’t awknowledge it. I don’t see any benefit in mentioning it at all. Just really focus on why you want to transfer there and how their school/curriculum is better suited for you as an individual than your current college.

Most schools will actually ask on their supplement if you have applied to their school before and for what term. I doubt they’ll care much for your previous application but they will know you applied before either way.

Thanks for the input. I saw that on the suppliment, and I’m just a bit nervous because I know that schools don’t usually like second-time applicants.

I think it depends I applied to school i got denied by the first time and told them i previously applied. They pulled up my old high school stuff and i did not have to send any of it in and I got in a few months later

i’m in the same boat. quite nervous as well, but look at it this way though, it’s a great opportunity to show persistence. as long as there’s the option of applying a second time, there’s the possiblity of getting accepted the second time :)

Depends how it’s done. If referencing it has contextual meaning to the essay, it’s kosher; however, if it’s just a side-note, it’s not necessary, as the college will already have your file and know you applied last year.

What if someone applied a year ago, and wants to re-apply? Will they still have the application on file?

Are they going to review your old application if you’re re-applying?
