Any experience or more info about transfer aid than what’s provided online? Wondering how generous need based aid is. Seems to be all that’s available for transfers. Our daughter was valedictorian of her class last year and has great scores and gpa. She chose a different college for her first year and just discovered UR. Also does using the npc show what we can expect for aid even for transfers?
Richmond meets 100% of demonstrated financial need. I would say the NPC depends per household. For some people, it’s been an accurate match while for others it has been far off price wise. I know a few people in my transfer class who received generous aid, though I don’t know their financial situations. I’m sure you know there’s no merit aid (like Richmond Scholars for example) that is available to transfer students.
I know this may be a late response but the NPC is extremely accurate. Before I transferred to UR, the actual price was only $1000 off from the NPC. Need-based aid is extremely generous; I go on basically a full ride. Many in my transfer class were also attending Richmond for a very affordable price! Let me know if you have any transfer related questions.
They did make my daughter a generous offer but it was several thousand below the NPC. And with outside scholarships they start taking away from their offer over a certain amount. She’s going to Va Tech. It was just the better choice for her. Good luck to everyone next fall.
