Okay, so I am currently a freshman at Umass Lowell, and I am thinking of transferring to Amherst for my sophomore year. The only thing that's really holding me back is the fact that I currently hold a full scholarship at Lowell, and I'm worried as a transfer that I'd get very little comparable aid at Amherst.

I guess my question is whether I will still be eligible for anything based on my high school and current records and/or test scores, or if all I could get would be based solely on financial need.

Also, do I need to include letters of recommendation with my transfer application? I didn't see it listed as a requirement on their website, but some people mentioned them in other threads on this site.

you need 1 letter or recomendation. you also need to have a counselor fill out a paper. if you sign up for common application, then youll see what you need to turn in.

Syonis,
I believe that transferring from one UMass to another is a little different than just transferring in general, but I could be wrong. If you haven’t already, I’d reccomend calling a transfer counselor over there - they are very helpful with questions like these.
UMass Amherst does have financial aid for transfers, as well as merit aid. But, the best option is to call and let them know about your scholarship at Lowell.
