Chances of being transferred into UMASS Amherst

How does transferring into Umass Amherst work? I've looked at their site and read the requirements, but does anyone have any personal experience they would like to share when they transferred to Umass Amherst, such as the GPA they look for or what they mainly look at to determine your acceptance? Also is there any options for financial aid, I know there are a lot for incoming freshman, but I haven't heard any for transferring students.

I’m transferring to UMass Amherst for the fall semester and I am actually leaving tommorow so I may not be a complete help. The best thing I can say is really think about what major and/or course of study you want. The business and computer science colleges are more competitive than others. I would say the minimum GPA you want is 3.2. They say it is 2.7 but the school is getting more competitive every year. They only accepted 62% of kids this year, which is ridiculous for UMass. For transfers, the biggest factor is GPA and your essay. You need to write a really good one explaining why you want to go to UMass Amherst.Financial Aid is determined by how much money your family has, so you can probably get a good picture of what you will get by calling financial aid at UMass. Also, apply as early as you can, it can’t hurt. Otherwise, be sure all of your information on your application is accurate and honest.

what made you decide to transfer? also what school did you go to before and your gpa?
