Transfer/Freshman Scholarships

I am currently attending the University at Buffalo as a freshman (been about 2 weeks) and am seriously considering transferring to another SUNY school due to various circumstances. I applied to said school along with UB and all my other colleges and got into both of them along with nearly identical scholarships. These scholarships are what make it able for me to go to these schools reasonably. My question is: will I be able to get the same scholarships at the other SUNY school despite having attended college for what will have been one semester?

Their website says that they offer freshman scholarships and then transfer scholarships, but since I would be attending and applying in what is considered "freshman year," could I still receive the financial aid? I have no doubts in my grades and test scores to receive the scholarship (I have once already) but will I be able to apply again as a second semester freshman or would it be considered a transfer? Could the credit hours I finish here be transferred over much like taking college courses in high school?

Any response is greatly appreciated :)

There’s a difference between ‘applying’ as a fr and being a fr as far as the number of units you have.

For the SUNYs:

https://www.suny.edu/applysuny/pdf/suny_online_undergrad_app_instructions.pdf

So, even though you may not have a full year of college credit when you transfer, you would still apply as a transfer if you have completed 3 post-HS college credits.

If this is the case, then you need to check to see what merit aid is available to transfers; generally there are more merit scholarships offered to fr applicants.

Most schools will consider you a transfer applicant and will not offer the same generous scholarships they do to first-time freshmen. Since you were offered a good package there originally, I’d recommend talking to the admissions and/or financial aid offices and explaining your situation. Maybe they will be willing to work with you to provide additional aid over what they would usually offer a transfer student. It’s at least worth a try.

Or you can try to stick it out at the school you chose to keep the scholarships which are allowing you to attend.
