Advice on transferring after freshman year?

I'm currently a high school senior. My first choice for college was St. John's university in queens. When I was applying to schools in the fall, nobody told me that I should apply to a bunch of safety schools. I was on my own during the application process so I kind of messed everything up. Anyway, I got into St. John's with a scholarship, but the amount of loans I would need to go there for all four years is absolutely ridiculous. I do love the school a lot and want to take out enough loans to at least go there for the experience freshman year. My intended major is biology. Does anyone think I would have a problem transferring after freshman year to a much cheaper school such as a SUNY university like Albany? Would it be easy for my credits to transfer? Thanks!

That sounds unnecessarily expensive… Gap year? Community college?

Not a good plan. I second what bodangles said.

If you live in NY state, CUNY is still accepting applications on a space available basis and you could also apply for the second semester. https://www.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/deadlines.html</a>
