Hi, What are my chances of transferring from an ivy to another ivy league university? I’m already at an ivy league school but this school doesn’t seem the right fit for me. I applied early decision, which didn’t give me a chance to explore other options. When I was applying as a senior I thought this would be my dream school. My SAT, SATII, GPA are all top tier, and I took several AP classes. Can anyone who had this experience share your thoughts? What was the process like and what was your compelling reason to change (aside from the fact that you would like to change schools).
Most have very very low transfer rates. Princeton is out. Harvard is virtually out 1 pct or took 15 in 2012. Yale transfer rate is 2 to 3 pct, took 26. Dart, only 30. Brown a little better at 98, Penn 197, not sure if Columbia’s rate includes GS but 147. Cornell is the most transfer friendly. I just used 2012 because it was easy to find a chart, you can look for more recent data but it will be about the same.
It definitely helps that you were Ivy ready from HS. But it takes more than that. So you must have a good transcript from college as well as a compelling academic reason to transfer.
CHANCES are just the guessing game playing part of the forum, no where one goes for real information. Look at the Transfer forum, the College Search or Admissions forum or the individual forum for the colleges you are most interested in.
