Hey, I currently attend ASU and it is my first semester. My grades before finals are as such.. A+ Chem A+ Macroeconomics A- Physics B+ Calculus I and A in Physics lab.. I was wondering what my chances would be for transfering to an Ivy or Georgetown after a year or two assuming a GPA of 4.0.. I went to Stuyvesant High Scool in New York and did quite poorly average in the 80's with a 2100 SAT score.

any help would be greatly appreciated...

You would have a decent shot at some ivies and G-Town, assuming a high GPA. Don't jump the gun too much, as it's often much harder than it sounds to keep a perfect GPA. I would suggest waiting two years at your current college if you intend to transfer into a really good school, but you could certainly try your hand at some schools after one year. Just don't expect as much because your high school grades will be weighed heavily. Your SATs are quite good, by the way.

Yea, I plan to transfer after two years here.. Is it really that hard to maintain a perfect GPA for a long time? We have the A+ here which is weighed as 4.33 yet the GPA the schools sends is capped at 4.0 so it seems like an A+ here and there would compensate for the ocassional A- B+

That sounds like a nice setup. If you can keep a 4.0, more power to you. Just realize you'll need a lot dedication - after the first year, your resilience may take a turn for the worst. ;)

But back to the point - yes, with a near perfect GPA at ASU and good SATs, you will have a shot at top schools. Good luck.

Wow, that's such an awesome system. If that was the case, I'd have two A+s which would totally compensate for my B/- in Calc. Bah...

Yeah, well, its not surprising...

Hahahahahhaa
