Transfer from Rutgers (Advice/Chance Me)

Hi. I have applied to 20 universities from Rutgers University. I chose to go here because of the pandemic and cost of the private acceptances I got and am looking to transfer out.

I was wondering if someone can look at my stats and let me know if I had a good chance at any of the schools I applied to or if I am looking for a needle in a haystack.

He was waitlisted as a freshman applicant. And he’s reapplied as a transfer.

Are you in-state in New Jersey?

What can you afford to pay for university WITHOUT TAKING ON ANY DEBT AT ALL?

I have worked with and / studied with (in graduate school) quite a few graduates from Rutgers. They have all made the university look very good. It is not obvious to me why you want to transfer out.

You might be better off focusing on both keeping your GPA up, and looking for good internships.

Money is not an issue, I dont qualify for any need based aid. Yes In-State for Rutgers.

I have to admit that I am very confused by this thread.

To me “Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, UPenn, Duke, UChicago” all look like very high reaches as a transfer student. They also are not all the same, and I doubt that they are all a good fit for any one student (they are each a very good fit for somebody, but not the same somebody). Also, this list looks like “chasing prestige”, which is usually a bad idea.

NYU, UCLA and U.Michigan look like lower reaches, and at least possible (although expensive).

I have worked with graduates from Rutgers, and I have worked with graduates from BU. I do not know why you would want to transfer to BU.

I do understand that this past year has been lousy due to the pandemic. It has been lousy for students at every university everywhere (including my daughter who is graduating very close to now).

The thing that I really do not understand is the reason for transferring. At least my limited understanding of Political Science as a major suggests that graduate school (or law school) is a very real possibility. This implies that keeping your GPA up, looking for internships, and keeping some $$ in the bank would all be good ideas.

Aren’t transfer acceptances or rejections coming out sometime around about now? Have you heard back from some or all schools on your list?
