Transfer from UC to community then back to UC

I am currently a student at UCSC, my first year. I was doing well in school but hated every bit of it. I attend therapy for my mental health and cannot stand the idea of coming back to this school next year. I really want to succeed and I do not think I can here. So I have decided to go back home to a community college and take as many courses as I can and try to get in to my dream school UCSD. However, I was wondering if my chances will be lower because of my drop from UC to cc. Also will I have to do 2 years a community ?

Is there any particular reason you don’t want to try applying to UCSD directly from UCSC?

UCs take only junior level transfers, so if the OP really dislikes UCSC, doing second year at a community college makes more sense.
